St. James’s Hospital is the largest university teaching hospital in Dublin, Ireland. The Department of Medical Physics and Bioengineering (MPBE) at St. James’s Hospital have a long track record of research related to radiation protection in medicine. The Department has previously had a leading role in several EU projects including DIMOND, SENTINEL and RP162 Criteria of Acceptability for Medical Radiological Equipment. Current research related to occupational dosimetry is focused on eye lens dose measurements, in light of the revised ICRP and EU BSS eye dose limits. The department has published several peer-reviewed publications on Hp(3) lens doses for medical staff in Ireland.
Role in the project
SJH is participating in WP4: Assessment and validation of the online dosimetry application in hospitals and in WP6: Dissemination of the project results.
