Dose simulations using computational phantoms and Monte-Carlo methods

The aim of WP2 is to provide fast dose calculations for workers moving in realistic workplace fields. These calculations will be based on Monte Carlo (MC) methods and employ a variety of computational body phantoms, assuming various postures inside the radiation field (e.g. standing, sitting, bending over something, hands stretched out into the radiation field) and having different body statures (tall, small, broad). One approach will be by using a library of pre-calculated conversion coefficients (task 2.2). The real online simulation of the all aspects will be developed in task 2.3 for interventional radiology, and tested in task 4.3. Because of the specific aspects for neutron dosimetry, the similar exercise for the mixed neutron-gamma field will be done solely in WP5 (task 5.4).
